Student Life

Getting involved in student life on-campus is a great way to enhance your academic studies, improve your language skills, and make friends to last a lifetime! Below are suggestions from SBCC students for getting involved on campus.

Check your campus email. The campus portal is the primary mode of communication on campus, and groups send out invitations to join in campus life on a regular basis!

Follow the SBCC Ambassadors on Instagram.

Student Organizations

Join a club on campus. SBCC has a wide variety of active clubs, and joining a club is a great way to meet people that have similar interests. If you have an idea for starting a club, contact the Office of Student Life for information.

Get involved in Student Senate. Actively participate in creating school policies, and represent your fellow students! Check out the Student Senate website for more information.

Join the SBCC Ambassadors. Work together in a multicultural student group to plan events that engage the diverse students of SBCC, reaching out to new and continuing international students, campus student groups, and to the Santa Barbara community. We are committed to making SBCC an inclusive campus and supporting all of our students through their time here.

Apply for Phi Theta Kappa. Phi Theta Kappa is the International Honor Society for the Two Year College. Students who join PTK have access to tools and resources that enhance the scholastic experience at SBCC, and connect them with other students who prioritize academic achievement, service, and community action. Any eligible student may apply during the third week of each semester. In order to join, one needs to have completed at least 12 units at Santa Barbara City College and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
