Camerin Poulson
Hello! I’m Camerin Poulson. I was born in Utah and attended high school in Southern California. I started college uncertain of my goals and spent years in community colleges trying many types of courses to learn what interested me. First I thought I wanted to work with horses (even though I’d never owned one), then I thought I wanted to be an archaeologist, art historian, or maybe teach history. It wasn’t until my 30s that I found my love of librarianship and completed my graduate degree in information studies at San Jose State.
I think that college, community college in particular, is a valuable time to discover what motivates you and feeds your sense of wonder. I believe that people learn best when they are given the freedom to follow their curiosity and investigate things that matter to them. My goal is to make sure students feel supported and encouraged as they allow their research to become a journey of discovery.
In my free time I love to hike, backpack, and go on epic camping road trips with my wife and our new puppy, Ollie.
